Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mr. Ezzedin Tago recently visited Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Region and paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed, the Emir of Al-Madinah Region.
On 11 June 2012, Ambassador Tago together with Trade Representative Paisal Abdullah and Cultural Attache Mohamed Taha Guinomla met the Emir at the Palace in holy city of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah.
The two officials discussed various aspects of bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
Ambassador Tago lauded HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed for the expansive developments in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah and for the excellent arrangements that facilitate the visit and stay of millions of pilgrims who visit the Holy Mosque in Al-Madinah.
HRH Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed welcomed Ambassador Tago as Philippine Ambassador to the Kingdom. He also welcomed the Ambassador’s initiative to visit various universities around the Kingdom to promote cooperation in education and research. He encouraged Filipino students to apply and study in the Islamic University in Madinah Al-Munawarah, citing that the university has been a beacon of Islamic knowledge for many years. Ambassador Tago thanked the Emir and mentioned that there are Filipino scholars in many of the Kingdom’s universities, reiterating appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the scholarships granted to Filipinos.
The Philippine Ambassador also briefed the Emir on recent positive developments in the Philippine economy as well as business and investment opportunities with potential for cooperation.
Earlier in the day, the Philippine officials met with the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah Mr. Ali Al-Sharief and discussed a wide range of possible areas for private sector cooperation.
